AN UNFORGIVABLE CRIME- RAPE

Rapes have become such a common word. Right? Everyday we see a huge number of girls getting raped. What are we doing about this? Nothing! There are so many girls getting raped on a daily basis but no one really cares. Media just cares about the drug problem in Bollywood, and people are here to judge and blame it on girls. “She must be wearing short, revealing dresses”, “She must have given some hints”, “Why was she out this late”, “Why was she alone with a male friend”.

To the people who think these questions are valid- “Why a woman wearing burqa raped?”, “Why a 3-year-old got raped? What did she do to deserve all this?”, “Why a girl doing her work in silence, raped?” It’s the 21st century, you need to stop judging.

Will girls spend their whole lives in the fear of men and die waiting for the justice to be done? Why is it always “protect your daughters” and not “Educate your sons” and “ask your daughter to come home early” and not “ask your son to come home early”?

A 19-year old ‘Dalit’ girl was raped by 4 upper caste men who later died in Delhi hospital. Her body was ‘forcibly cremated’ by UP police without informing her parents. The victim’s parents were not able to have the last sight of their daughter.

A 14-year old girl was raped by her 20-year old neighbour in UP.

An 8-year old was also raped in UP by her neighbour.

A 22-year old Dalit woman died after being raped by 2 men.

Usually we say that marginalised shouldn’t be suppressed but at the end of the day we do the exact opposite. Most of the under-caste rape cases are not even filed by the police just because the girl who was raped was of a lower caste family! Shocking, right?

There were 1,45,000 rape cases in India last year and we knew about how many cases? Maybe 3-4.  In India 7-10 rape cases are reported daily and actions are taken on a very few. These are just reported cases, think about the cases which remain unreported. We are failing as humans, citizens as well as a nation all together.

For a nation that loves having male child, we surely forgot how to raise them. On one side girls are considered goddesses and on the other hand, men have the audacity to have sex with a woman without their consent. Cows get more safety in India than women do and this shows the type of nation we are becoming.

Markandey katju says that increase in rapes is because men are not able to get married because of increasing unemployment and can’t settle their urge to have sex. And if we want to end or decrease rapes, we need to increase jobs. I’m sorry. What? In short, he wants to say that men will never change, but who cares, we live in a male dominating society and all we care about is that a man should never suffer. It is because of these idiots that men have no fear of law.  And the people who are agreeing to him have shit for a brain. Instead of making strict laws, people are encouraging this behavior. Because of men like these, girls are scared to step out of their homes. If you want your future family to be secure then, Wake up people! Be the change you want to see in the society.

HANG ON! LET ME OVERTHINK

Whenever I've gone through periods of overthinking in my life I've tried to find ways to stop it. Googling things like how do I stop overthinking and finding advice like let go off the past and learn to control your emotions but it never worked for me because i had difficult time buying into the whole stop doing this or that kind of mind set. I guess I just don't really believe that you can just shut down your thoughts but rather you should learn how to deal with them. So, rather than shutting down any feelings, we need to learn the difference between  productive and unproductive overthinking and aim at focusing on future rather than on the past. Some times it is difficult to distinguish between productive and unproductive overthinking because in reality, it's not about how much time we spend overthinking, it's rather how we spend that time. You'll never be free until you free yourself from the prison of your false thoughts. Overthinking is parasitic, its viral...

SELF LOVE OVER SELF COMPARISON

Its interesting to think that all those things that you want in life, or at least think that you want, someone else was born into having it all, And you don't have any say in it and neither did they. We don't get to choose what kind of life we are born into and we most definitely don't get to choose our looks and health by birth. We know this, yet we often go through life having difficulty accepting it. The problem with comparison is that you always either feel better than someone else or worthless compared to others.   I am fat and always have been, and I'd get teased for it growing up. They would tell me that slim people are more appealing. It made me dislike my own body. I think its a classic example of a situation when the reason you start comparing yourself in first place is because someone else starts comparing you first. I was happy the way I looked and felt in my own body until others felt the need to express that there was something wrong with that and suddenly...
