It is because it might make you less happy, or its no fun at all, it might be difficult, you might think it's not important and most importantly you might not know where to start. Whenever I've gone through periods of overthinking in my life I've tried to find ways to stop it. Googling things like how do I stop overthinking and finding advice like let go off the past and learn to control your emotions but it never worked for me because i had difficult time buying into the whole stop doing this or that kind of mind set. I guess I just don't really believe that you can just shut down your thoughts but rather you should learn how to deal with them. So, rather than shutting down any feelings, we need to learn the difference between productive and unproductive overthinking and aim at focusing on future rather than on the past. Some times it is difficult to distinguish between productive and unproductive overthinking because in reality, it's not about how much time we spend overthinking, it's rather how we spend that time.
