How To Avoid Procrastination?

We all are stuck in our houses from past one and a half year and we all have become lazy and probably procrastinate most of our chores.

But what procrastination really is?

Procrastination is a habit of putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention.

Do you ever wonder why we procrastinate?

It is because it might make you less happy, or its no fun at all, it might be difficult, you might think it's not important and most importantly you might not know where to start.

Here are a few steps which would help you avoid procrastinating.

1. Recognise it- The first step is to recognise that you are procrastinating. Often when we start aimlessly scrolling through social media or find ourselves getting distracted, we waste a lot of precious time. What we should do is, close our eyes and talk to ourselves and say "let's at least start what is pending".

2. Focus on just doing- this part can be really hard to get started! But often what stops us is either our desire for perfection or it seems to us like too big of a task! Instead start by saying I'm going to spend 5 minutes on this and then increase the time as you go! It happens to me as well and I know it can be really hard sometimes to just start a task but often when you start, you'll go into the flow of things so just be patient and focus on starting

3. To-Do List- This can give yo a sense of accomplishment which increases your motivation! break big tasks into smaller steps and ensure that you don't have too many things on the list which may make you overwhelmed. You don't have to do all the work in one day. take proper amounts of breaks and don't overburden yourself.

4. Scheduling Tasks- This is also important! Instead of saying "I'll just start after dinner because I'm more productive then", just start then and there because there are more chances of you to say the same thing after dinner for the later time. Even it's for a short period of time, but also start with easier and shorter tasks and then leave the content heavy ones for the time when you're most productive. Remember, however, that your schedule can be flexible according to your needs.

5. Rewards- Make sure to give yourself rewards for your accomplishments too. Eat an ice-cream, chocolate, go for a walk , take a hot water bath, watch some movies.

The purpose is to make yourself active, not take your happiness away. So enjoy but stay productive.

  6. Great advices, though you can always work on your grammar and sentence formation which I've observed is a little problematic not only in this write-up but your other writeups too.
    Some examples of the same-
Most of our chores* not chore
'Do you ever wonder why we procrastinate?'There's no need for do before we.
It's just a constructive feedback. Hope you take it well 🙂

HANG ON! LET ME OVERTHINK

Whenever I've gone through periods of overthinking in my life I've tried to find ways to stop it. Googling things like how do I stop overthinking and finding advice like let go off the past and learn to control your emotions but it never worked for me because i had difficult time buying into the whole stop doing this or that kind of mind set. I guess I just don't really believe that you can just shut down your thoughts but rather you should learn how to deal with them. So, rather than shutting down any feelings, we need to learn the difference between  productive and unproductive overthinking and aim at focusing on future rather than on the past. Some times it is difficult to distinguish between productive and unproductive overthinking because in reality, it's not about how much time we spend overthinking, it's rather how we spend that time. You'll never be free until you free yourself from the prison of your false thoughts. Overthinking is parasitic, its viral...

SELF LOVE OVER SELF COMPARISON

Its interesting to think that all those things that you want in life, or at least think that you want, someone else was born into having it all, And you don't have any say in it and neither did they. We don't get to choose what kind of life we are born into and we most definitely don't get to choose our looks and health by birth. We know this, yet we often go through life having difficulty accepting it. The problem with comparison is that you always either feel better than someone else or worthless compared to others.   I am fat and always have been, and I'd get teased for it growing up. They would tell me that slim people are more appealing. It made me dislike my own body. I think its a classic example of a situation when the reason you start comparing yourself in first place is because someone else starts comparing you first. I was happy the way I looked and felt in my own body until others felt the need to express that there was something wrong with that and suddenly...
